Pre-Care

Before your treatment

Review these pointers to ensure your visit goes as smoothly as possible

  • Avoid taking any blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen, for at least two weeks before the procedure.
  • Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before the procedure, as alcohol can increase the risk of bruising.
  • Do not apply any topical products to the area to be treated on the day of the procedure, as this can increase the risk of infection.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or use of tanning beds for at least 24 hours before the procedure.
  • Inform your provider of any allergies or medical conditions you have, as well as any medications you are taking, to avoid any potential complications.
  • Do not schedule the procedure if you have a cold, flu, or any other illness, as it may interfere with your body's healing and recovery.

Aftercare

After your treatment

Follow these important tips to get the most from your treatment

  • Do not rub or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours after the procedure, as this can cause the Botox to spread to other areas and affect the results.
  • Avoid lying down for at least four hours after the procedure, as this can also cause the Botox to spread to other areas.
  • Do not engage in any strenuous activities, such as exercise or heavy lifting, for at least 24 hours after the procedure, as this can increase blood flow to the treated area and cause swelling or bruising.
  • Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours after the procedure, as alcohol can increase the risk of bruising.
  • Do not apply any makeup or topical products to the treated area for at least 24 hours after the procedure, as this can increase the risk of infection.
  • If you experience any redness, swelling, or discomfort in the treated area, you can apply a cold compress to the area for a few minutes at a time to help reduce these symptoms.
  • Wait at least two weeks before scheduling any additional cosmetic treatments or procedures to avoid interfering with the Botox treatment.
